WEZWOT Community Standards

The Wezwot Community Standards outline what is and isn’t allowed on Wezwot.

Introduction

Every day, people use Wezwot to find/promote events/experiences, connecting Wezzers and Wotters, and to build communities. It’s a service where millions of people can freely explore new places and experiences across the country.

It is important for Wezwot to be a place where people feel inspired and excited, and we take our role seriously in keeping any form of abuse off the service as outlined below.

These standards are based on feedback from people and the advice of experts in various fields such as technology, public safety, human rights and of course the legal arena. All this is to ensure that everyone’s voice is valued yet appropriate. We take great care to create standards that include different views and beliefs, especially from people and communities that might otherwise be overlooked or marginalised.

Please note that the English version of the Community Standards reflects the most up-to-date set of the policies and should be used as the primary document.

Our commitment to Wotters & Wezzers

The goal of our Community Standards is to create an even and fair platform where small businesses are given the same advertising exposure as the larger businesses. Wezwot wants people to discover the hidden gems and “support locally”.

Content, if it’s newsworthy and in the public interest, will be published only after weighing the public interest value including the various international human rights standards to make these judgments.

Our commitment to freedom of expression is paramount, but we recognise that the Internet creates new and increased opportunities for abuse. For these reasons, even though we do not like censorship, when we limit expression we do it with the consideration of one or more of the following values:

Authenticity

We want to make sure that the content people see on Wezwot is authentic. We believe that authenticity creates a better environment for trust between a Wotter and a Wezzer, and that’s why we don’t want people using Wezwot to misrepresent who they are or what they’re doing.

Safety

We’re committed to making Wezwot a safe place. We reserve the right to remove content that could contribute to any form of risk or harm to the physical security of any persons subscribed to Wezwot. Included in this is any content that threatens people, has the potential to intimidate, exclude or silence others isn’t allowed on Wezwot.

Privacy

We’re committed to protecting personal privacy and information. Privacy gives people the freedom to be themselves, choose how and when to share on Wezwot and connect more easily.

Dignity

We believe that all people are equal in dignity and rights. We expect that people will respect the dignity of others and not harass or degrade others.

Community Standards

Our Community Standards apply to everyone subscribed to Wezwot, and to the content therein.

Each section of our Community Standards starts with a “policy rationale” that sets out the aims of the policy followed by specific policy lines that outline:

Content that’s not allowed; and

Content that requires additional information or context to enforce on, content that is allowed with a warning screen or content that is allowed but can only be viewed by adults aged 18 and older.

Respectfully
The Wezwot Team
